I'm back and burning calories! The knee seems to be getting better, putting more time and miles on it slowly. Kristen joined me at the gym on Monday and it was PACKED! I was without my iPod so was looking forward to a little sister chat time but we couldn't even get 2 open treadmills, let alone 2 that were next to each other :( We killed some time on the elliptical machine in hopes we'd get lucky...not so much, off to the track we went. I wasn't really looking forward to this part.
The picture isn't my gym but is very similar, 2 narrow lanes overlooking the basketball courts. After work they split them and have open basketball on one side and a little kid's heaven on the other (not gonna lie - looks fun sometimes with the moon bounce and climbing wall). The one thing this area is not is quiet - kids screaming and laughing...basketballs bouncing and guys shouting. This was a challenge, no music to drown it out and then there was my running partner for the evening who I basically had to chase around this track - boy she keeps a quick pace! I kicked myself for not looking at the clock when we started because 32 laps later (2 mi) we stopped, I'm guessing probably a 10:45-11 min/mile pace. Geesh - thanks sis!Tuesday night was very much the opposite - not crowded at all, I had my pick of machines. I did a little of everything (bike, weights, elliptical) before settling in on the treadmill on the end. YAY! 2.32 miles in about 30 minutes. The knee is a bit sore today but I'm feeling like I'm on the right track!
